Here's the short list

Students walking in hazardous conditions - no sidewalks

Students walking in hazardous conditions - aggressive areas

Students walking in hazardous conditions - snow plowed or piled on walk area

Students walking in hazardous conditions - past registered sex offenders

The absence of a traffic light or stop signs or crossing guard at an intersection where three or more streets intersect which has a traffic count which exceeds ninety vehicles per hour during

the time that students are walking to or from school, and such students are expected to cross the street

This policy is applicable to private roads approved for passage of school transportation vehicles in accordance with C.G.S. Section10-220c.

Additional Facts

The transportation director of NPS stated this move was to save money. Let's do a break down... the district denied transportation to about 400 students. There is an approximate savings of 160k but ... the district never informed us there is up to a 60% reimbursement. This amounts to savings of about $5 per student per week. Even without reimbursement the $400/year savings per student amounts to approximately $13 dollars a week per student.

By the way, the school district gets $23,000 + per student per year. However, since NFA is a private school, Norwich does not manage the funds and must provide transportation. Also there is no public high schoool...
